On September 17, 2021, the headquarters of Association of MBAs (AMBA) sent a formal letter to SEM, informing that MBA of SEM has passed the reaccreditation review by AMBA International Certification Committee and has been granted the international certification with a maximum period of 5 years.
This is the third time that the school has passed the AMBA reaccreditation review since its first accreditation from AMBA in 2013 and reaccreditation in 2016. From 21 to 23 June 2021, the Reaccreditation Review Committee, composed of several experts from world-renowned business schools around the world, conducted a 3-day review on the strategy, faculty, students and curriculum of the school and MBA programme. Due to the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the review was conducted online.
The reaccredidation was valued by university and school leaders. It was led by Professor Yan Xiangbin, Vice President of USTB and Dean of SEM and organized by the International Office. During the reaccreditation, all MBA teachers and students participated in the process and received full support from relevant functional sections and departments of USTB and the school. During the activity, Professor Zhang Weidong, Vice President of USTB, delivered a speech at the AMBA reaccreditation meeting. He welcomed and thanked the accreditation panel for the AMBA reaccreditation work in SEM, and then introduced the history and development status of USTB to the accreditation panel. He also expressed the university’s full recognition of the development of SEM in recent years.
Professor Yan Xiangbin delivered a speech at the meeting between review committee and representatives of the school, introduced the history and development status of SEM, expressed his warm welcome to the accreditation panel, and responded to some concerns raised by the accreditation experts in terms of the university development.
During the reaccreditation, the panel examined our online database in great details. A questionnaire survey was conducted among representatives of faculty, students, alumni and employers to fully understand their evaluation and development suggestions of the school and MBA programme. Through an online video conference, the panel had a discussion with school leaders, MBA programme Director and Center Office Director to carry out an all-round investigation of the overall development strategy, the mission and vision of our school and programmes, the faculty, the enrollment of MBA and EMBA programmes, the curriculum design and innovation of teaching, the teaching management, and the lifelong learning provided for students. The panel highly affirmed the achievements of our school in recent years, believing that MBA education of USTB has great disciplinary advantages, prominent features and maintains the high-level education. At the same time, the panel also put forward valuable suggestions for the future development of our school and MBA programme.
The pass of the reaccreditation for another five years shows that our MBA programme provides world-class business education, and will continue to improve. In the future, our school will continue to be driven by its mission and vision, strive to implement the development strategy of the school, continuously improve the overall strength and talent training quality, and further promote the school’s overall internationalization level.
